We contracted with Plantation for a large (>750 sq ft) remodeling project that involved demolition of part of an existing house, pouring a new foundation, framing, siding, roofing, windows–everything right down to tiles, lighting fixtures and millwork. Both the owner, Wade Bowman and our site manager, Carey Turney, were reliable, easy to communicate with, and impeccably professional at all times. Yes. Home additions require permitting, and we handle that process for you. Pulling the necessary permits is built into our process, along with the prep work, the structural tie-in, and all the intermediate and final inspections. You do not chase paperwork. We take care of it, so you have the peace of mind that your project is being handled properly and legally. The same is true of any remodel that changes structural components, electrical wiring, plumbing, or mechanical systems.
Will the new addition match the rest of my house?
Yes. We design each home addition to match the house you already have: the rooflines, the exterior details, and the finishes inside. We go over every detail so that the new space looks like it was part of the house all along, not added on.

Yes. We build full second-story additions and rooms over an existing garage, for bedrooms, offices, or flex space. This kind of project requires us to evaluate the existing structure and determine what additional support is needed to safely carry the new floor, and we handle that as part of the job. We have a professional structural engineering partner who does the final analysis and provides us with the PE-stamped drawings.
Do you build in-law suites for aging parents or extended family?
Yes. In-law suites are one of our most popular additions: a comfortable, self-contained living area, with the privacy and independence a parent, adult child, or guest wants, built to match your home. How does the home addition process work?
Five steps.
- We listen. We have to learn your goals and needs for the space. Our initial interviews are geared towards identifying how you plan to use the space and translating that into action items.
- Design and planning. We shape a plan that is beautiful, functional, and buildable. Along the way, we show you the budget impact of each choice you make.
- Permitting and prep. We handle the building permits and schedule walk-throughs with our trusted crews.
- Construction. First priority is protection of the areas that will be adjacent to or affected by the new construction. We go to great lengths to protect the existing space. When work starts, a dedicated project manager is on site every day work is scheduled, the work area is cleaned up daily, and you hear from us as soon as anything changes, not when the invoice arrives.
- Final walkthrough. We review every detail together to ensure you are satisfied with the results.
Can I stay in my house while the addition is being built?
Usually, yes. Most additions go up outside the existing walls, so the house stays closed and livable until the day we open the wall to tie the new space in. That connection is the disruptive part, and we plan it late and finish it fast. Second-story additions are the exception: the roof comes off, and we will tell you up front if there is a stretch where staying is not practical. Either way, the work area is walled off, cleaned up daily, and the crew is not in your kitchen.
Does a home addition add value to my house?
In most cases, yes, but not dollar for dollar, and anyone who promises otherwise is guessing. What holds value is space that fits the house: a primary suite, a bigger kitchen, a second story that looks like it was always there. What loses value is an addition that looks bolted on or pushes the house well past what the street supports. We will tell you at the consultation which side of that line your idea falls on. Most of our clients build because they want to stay in a house they already love, and the resale number is the bonus, not the reason.
